Guides to Archetypes and Consciousness
These guides explain the two halves of a Twelv soul profile, the twelve Jungian archetypes and the twelve Hawkins-inspired levels of consciousness, in plain language. Start with the beginner's guide to archetypes or the levels overview, then go deeper into compatibility, shadow work, and Oracle. Everything here is free to read.
Where should you start?
With whichever half of the profile you are more curious about. If you want to know what kind of person you are, start with the archetypes. If you want to know how free you are to be that person, start with the levels. Both guides below assume no background.
- Understanding Your Archetype: A beginner's guide to what a Jungian archetype is and why knowing yours matters.
- The 12 Levels of Consciousness: The whole Hawkins-inspired ladder in one chart, from Apathy to Enlightenment, and how Twelv places you on it.
Which guides explain the levels of consciousness?
The levels series describes Twelv's twelve stages one at a time, with the same backbone on every page: what the level is, how to recognise it in yourself, how each of the twelve archetypes tends to live it, and the practices that lead to the next rung. Three levels are written so far.
- The 12 Levels of Consciousness: The whole Hawkins-inspired ladder in one chart, from Apathy to Enlightenment, and how Twelv places you on it.
- Fear, level 3: Fear as a stance, not a flaw: how it lives in the body and in relationships, and gentle moves toward Courage.
- Courage, level 7: The turning point from force to power: signs you are here, its shadow, and the move toward Neutrality.
- Love, level 11: Love as a way of seeing rather than a feeling, what it is not, and the practices that open toward it.
Which guides are about archetypes and relationships?
The archetype guides go from the basics to the parts that are hardest to look at. Each of the twelve archetype profiles, from the Innocent to the Ruler, has its own page with strengths, shadow, relationships and growth path; the guides below sit across all twelve.
- Understanding Your Archetype: A beginner's guide to what a Jungian archetype is and why knowing yours matters.
- Archetype Compatibility Chart: All 78 pairings in three tiers, with the best and hardest matches for each archetype.
- Shadow Work Prompts by Archetype: 72 original prompts, six per archetype, tied to the real shadow patterns in each profile.
Which guides are about Oracle and the test?
Everything on this site begins with the free test, about 45 questions in about 10 minutes, which gives you your archetype, your level and your five dimension scores. Oracle is what comes after: a conversation with your higher self, grounded in that profile.
- Oracle: Talk to Your Higher Self: What Oracle is, what it knows about you, what it costs, and what it is not.
Sources and limits. The archetypes across these guides are the Pearson-Mark set built on Jung's work; the levels are inspired by Hawkins' Power vs. Force and used descriptively, with his calibration method neither used nor endorsed. The guides are for reflection and self-knowledge, not treatment or professional advice.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a guide and an archetype page?
An archetype page is a profile of one archetype: the Sage, the Hero, and so on, with its strengths, shadow, relationships and growth path. A guide sits across all twelve, or across the levels, and explains an idea rather than a type. Read the guide for the concept and the archetype page for yourself.
Are the guides free to read?
Yes. Every guide on this site is free, and so is the test that gives you your own archetype and level. Twelv's paid features, the Soul Blueprint, the Relationship Blueprint and Oracle after its free messages, are described on the quiz page and the Oracle page, and none of them is required to read anything here.
Do I need to take the test to use the guides?
No. The guides stand on their own. The test adds one thing: it tells you which archetype and which level are yours, so the shadow prompts, the level pages and Oracle can be read as being about you rather than about people in general.
Are more guides coming?
The levels series currently covers Fear, Courage and Love, with the other nine levels listed on the levels page as plain text until their pages are written. This hub lists every guide as it is published.
